Larger-bodied passengers
If the seats are too small for you to travel comfortably and safely, we recommend that you book a second seat next to yours to ensure your comfort. Here are some information and tips to prepare your trip:
- Safety rules require that every passenger is seated on board with both armrests down and the seatbelt fastened. To comply with this rule and travel more comfortably, in Moana Economy Class, we recommend that you book an extra seat if need be.
- Please note that in Poerava Business Class and Moana Premium Economy Class, the booking of an extra seat for corpulent passengers is not possible due to the seat structure and the central fixed armrest.
In Poerava Business class:
- The seat width between 2 armrests is 53 cm / 28.8 inches.
- The maximum length of our seatbelts is 88 cm / 34.6 in., corresponding to a maximum waist circumference of about 141 cm / 55.5 inches.
- We remind you that our 3-point seatbelts in Poerava Business class do not allow the addition of an extension belt.
In Moana Premium class:
- The seat width between 2 armrests is 50 cm / 19.6 inches.
- The maximum length of our seatbelts is 111 cm / 43.7 in., corresponding to a maximum waist circumference of about 147 cm / 57.8 inches.
- An extension belt (61 cm / 24 in. long) may be provided by the crew if necessary.
In Moana Economy class:
- The seat width between 2 armrests is 44 cm / 17.3 inches.
- The maximum length of our seatbelts is 103 cm / 40.5 in., which corresponds to a maximum waist circumference of about 147 cm / 57.8 inches.
- An extension belt (61 cm / 24 in. long) may be provided by the crew if necessary.
The purchase of an extra seat is not mandatory but does guarantee you that you are confirmed to fly on the date you desire.
In the event of you needing an extra seat to meet with safety requirements and you did not book it in advance:
- If on the day of departure, there is a seat available in Moana Economy Class, you will be granted an adjacent seat to yours free of charge,
- However, if on the day of departure, no seat is available in Moana Economy Class, you will be denied boarding.
Your benefits when purchasing an extra seat:
- Taxes and fuel surcharge are not applicable on an extra seat.
- You are granted a second baggage allowance.
- You earn twice the amount of Club Tiare miles for your journey!

Additional information:
- The width of the aisles inside the aircraft is 52 cm / 20.4 inches in Poerava Business class and from 41 cm / 16.1 in. to 47 cm / 18.5 in. in Moana Economy Premium and Moana Economy classes.
- The length of the straps of our life jackets is 150 cm / 59 in. maximum.
- The maximum width of the toilet door on board is 51 cm / 20 in.
- The maximum weight supported by our seats is 150 kg / 330 lbs in all our travel classes and 250 kg / 551 lbs based on 2 seats in Moana Economy class.
We inform you that beyond a weight of 120 kg / 264.5 lbs, the electronic functionalities of the seats turn to safe mode. Consequently, your seat back and your leg rest can only be operated manually with the help of your cabin crew.
